As active members of DBA International, The Bureaus, Inc. recently participated in legislative discussions with the Indiana Attorney General’s office. This discussion was attended by Vice President Marian Sangalang and General Counsel Dara Tarkowski along with key members of the DBA staff.
The meeting began with an explanation of the DBA including introductions, information about the association and a description of the association’s proactive approach to legislation/regulation including detailing interactions with the CFPB and FTC in regards to developing the certification program.
The discussion focused on key points included in the recent AG press release outlining the changes they would like to see enacted regarding the management and collection of consumer debts. The AG team expressed their concerns and listened while we provided feedback on each point. They were receptive to our opinions, and after the meeting we felt that everyone involved better understood the positions of the people sitting across the table.
Our team at The Bureaus, Inc. looks forward to more opportunities to meet with AG’s and legislators around the country to help them understand not only the business impacts on the ARM industry, but to predict the direct impact on consumers that comes from changes in legislation.
We appreciate the opportunity to participate in these discussions and look forward to more productive meetings with the Indiana AG’s office in the future.
